Marriage & Relationship Educators Association Australia (MAREAA) represents and supports marriage and relationship educators and the diverse work that they do with couples, individuals and families regardless of race or gender so that they may have healthy growing, safe, loving and committed relationships.

Healthy relationships in all their diversity = healthy and safe communities.

MAREAA aims to support educators in their ongoing professional development through networking, in service training opportunities, conferences, sharing of resources plus much more. MAREAA has active members in most states and territories, see our state list for more details.

Marriage and Relationship Education is an adult education activity designed to inform and enrich relationships and individuals. Members of this association facilitate programs for individuals, couples, families and groups of all ages. Programs may include preparation for marriage, skills for strengthening relationships, school programs, parenting, stepfamilies, men’s issues, workplace relationships, personal development, conflict management, rebuilding after separation or divorce.

MAREAA formerly the Marriage Educators Association of Australia (MEAA), was constituted in Melbourne in September 1995, to meet the professional needs of Marriage and Relationship Educators throughout Australia.

Actively lobbying the Minister for Social Services to assist with funding for the re-instatement of the National Marriage and Relationship Education Conference for 2015.

Ensuring every state has a representative on the National Executive.

Supporting each State to conduct or plan their professional development activities as required.

The National MAREAA Executive provides seed funding to assist state PD activities as required.

Improving access to a continually developing website that promotes activities to support Marriage and Relationship Educators (MRE’s).

Being able to locate on the MAREAA website MRE contacts in any state.

Access to a directory of MRE practitioners to the general public.

Lobbying of Government and industry organisations by the MAREAA National Executive to further develop the profile of MRE.
